Little girl

No one is gonna let a stranger give their child a drink or food.

reply

Or leave them alone with the child to get honey.

And apparently the mother didn't return for a while, because she told the officers that Simon left and told her the daughter was sleeping. Unless Simon gave her something that instantly knocked her out.

That's the least of the problems here. We see Simon suffocate the girl, but somehow later the girl claims Simon taught her an entire song which she memorized. Did that happen before or after he suffocated her? If it was before, they just chose to not show the audience? If it was after, they both didn't show the audience, and somehow the girl didn't remember Simon suffocated her? Was this movie rushed into production before anyone bothered to see if the script even made sense?

reply

Sorry to be late to the conversation, but I'm watching this again

Scary Man hummed to her and told her it made the cup magic, and the tea wouldn't taste so bad. She hummed it along with him, drinking the tea, and just afterward he started suffocating her. (And hell, no!! I'd never have even let him in my house, much less in my little girl's room! Creepy!!)

UPDATE--sorry! I didn't realize that he taught her the words, too! That is a major plot hole..

"Let's eat Granny!! Let's eat, Granny!!"
Punctuation matters.

People do this all the time, it's called "alternative healing". You may have heard of this native girl who recently went to Florida to receive "alternative treatments" cuz Jesus told her to never mind Western medicine. She's dead.
There are many charlatan faith healers in our Western civilisation. I know plenty of people who visit these shamans for 90$ per session, and then have the gall to complain that healthcare is too expensive... sheesh!

***So I've seen 4 movies/wk in theatre for a 1/4 century, call me crazy?**

reply

Well she did seek him out to help her. Its not like he randomly came to the door offering kids candy or something. And lets not forget she was desperate and probably willing to try anything and apparently religious.

Walking away is a whole other thing though...
