If this show is cancelled....

...I will NEVER watch CN again. Seriously.

Getting rid of Toonami was Strike 1, saturating it with live-action garbage was Strike 2. This will be number 3 if my fears are realized.

Goddammit, I have a major feeling that this show will leave us too soon, and I feel powerless to stop it. It breaks my heart, because not only is this an excellent remake, its one of the best cartoons I've seen in awhile. If it happened I would at least like to see the series get some closure, but Episode 7 opened up so many possibilities for the show to aspire. If there's any justice in the world, the show will stay around for awhile.

So don't let it happen! raise your voice - leave good comments about it everywhere . because so far , while the show has more than 1 million viewers each episode . all we ehar is the complains of the nostalgic fans , who will never be satisfied ...

It's not canceled, but I had no idea it returned. Cartoon Network just takes stuff of the air and randomly brings it back.

While i'm not the biggest fan of the reboot, i totally agree with folks on here and rmoore23 points about cancellations. As Cartoon Network in general has been very bad for many years and dropped in putting out quality shows as they once did. The blame also can't just be solely placed at the plenty of DVD releases of many of these popular shows and classic as well either.

The loss of such stations as; Toonami is felt now. And as Fox with its former Jetix's lineup as well since we're making note of several things. Whats also sad is that the new toys based on ThunderCats aren't selling to today's kids in places like Toy's R Us or Forbidden Planet, not from what i've seen they aren't. As it was the lack of toys selling that sadly killed the excellent; Masters Of The Universe reboot back in 2002 a decade ago as well.

The show has its issues with me and others but since it also carries the ThunderCats name and logo along with it. I also wouldn't want the new reboot to fail either by not finishing up its run. Its just the series for today's generation that i'll simply have to put up with, but i want it to entertain my niece and nephew if its one of the shows they're into watching. As they get a little older i can also show'em the original series that my generation watched as well etc.

That and i'm a 2D animation stickler and will support 2D animated shows over 3D. Which i'm not totally against by can't vouch for over what i grew up with and appreciate heavily moreso is all.

are you serious have you seen the orginal one? how is is a good thing.

I think this is one of the best animated shows I have seen in a long time from CN. And yeah, I agree about the live-action garbage. I hope it doesn't prey victim like Nickelodeon, or the Disney Channel. *shudders*

One of my favorite cartoons of the '80s was the original Thundercats. I loved that show! When I heard of the reboot, I was like "oh hell no, why they gotta go and rape ma childhood?". So I started watching the old TC cartoon. Oh my god. It's beyond being corny as *beep* About the only action the original had was the intro.
After watching the new TC cartoon, I was seriously impressed. It blows the original way out of the water. It totally fleshes out the characters, gives them a decent background/story, and is more brutal.

I must say that some amount of respect must be given to the original. For without it there would be no awesome reboot. Any nostalgic fan who says he prefers the original over the new is in denial, or they just don't want to give the new show a chance.

I'll admit, the original show was amazing for its time, but it hasn't aged well. I could never really take the show seriously due to its cheesy voice acting, hammy moments and mostly episodic plotlines. I am still surprised most can still watch it with a straight face.

The 2011 has some wonderful storytelling, deeper characters (Unlike the shining heroes of the 80's version, the characters are much more flawed and human), stronger mythology, darker and mature tone and more of an ongoing storyline. Episodes like "Song of the Petelars" and "Native Son" have some of the finest storytelling I've seen since the Golden age of cartoons in the 90's. I really liked the shades of grey the Thunderans were portrayed in this version.

To its credit, Mumm-Ra is still scarier in the original though, and NOTHING will replace the legendary Opening sequence of the 80's version.

It might have hurt the show (and I have a bad feeling) by moving it from Friday at like 8:00 pm to freakin saturday at 9:30 AM in the freakin morning. I mean come on! HELLO!!O!O!O Yeah Cartoon Network, show King of the Hill and the same *beep* episode of Family Guy over and over. Just call this stupid channel Fox. And they still show the Big O... wow, what a great group of programmers. Same goes for Young Justice too. I like that show, probably will cancel that too.

You know what, if you were a woman, or even dressed as a woman, man, we'd be unstoppable.

The show was moved to Saturday morning to revive the concept of the Saturday morning cartoons that used to be a staple. I'm not sure if the experiment has worked exactly, but it makes sense. I've adapted pretty well to getting all these shows in a row, Ben10, Thundercats, Green Lantern and Young Justice, then flipping over to Korra. Television hasn't been this exciting on the weekend since I was a kid.

I really like what you say here rmoore,

Completely echo your feelings & thoughts regarding characters, tone, themes & story arc work. Simply wonderful, engaging & so much fun. I'm not a huge fan of the original but then again I never watched it during the 80's; when it was on I was backpacking through Europe before going off to University, however about 2 years ago I took some interest in the cartoons from that era and got the old Thundercats, Voltron, Guardians of the Galaxy & Defender of the Universe. The original Thundercats was IMHO plagued with a nearly lethal dose of the cheese, but also, for some reason, it had tremendous success, which I also understand cuz it had some cool things going for it, chiefly the strong contrast between the very well developed character of Mumm-Ra & squeaky clean Cat Clan of Thundera. It spoke loudly to those thirsty for characters & heroes easy to look up to.

The New Thundercats boasts so many fantastic elements, including beautiful animation. From what I see, it's the best animation out there right now. I'm watching this show with my friend Kery, & we're also going thru Wolf's Rain (a great anime series) and we agree the animation is of similar quality, even though the styles are quite different. The attention to detail, the overall flow the movements have and the impressively achieved realism & dynamic impact of the ACTION sequences really does it for me. I absolutely love this show!!! I'm gonna buy the DVD's & for my nephew too. I'm also a big Young Justice fan, yet The New Thundercats gets my nod for best cartoon today. I love the look, the action they deliver, the flow in the movements overall, attention to character creation & development & the deepening storyline, Mythology & how they weave it in with the individual episode themes, building the suspense, keeping me engrossed, invested & wanting more, more, more...Mumm-Ra...Bwahahaha!!!

Keep it on CN, or suffer the consequences of BOTH the Cat CLan & infernal Mummy in all creation!

U have been warned, served & all that other very scary stuff.

Glad to see the fans are there. I would hate to see this show cut off before it realizes its full potential. I just hope it at least gets one more season to finish the story....

To its credit, I find the whole connection with Mumm-Ra and Third Earth fascinating, and it could bring the story to some really interesting directions.

I also heard rumors that the Silverhawks were supposed to make a cameo in this series. Mon-Starr's appearance in episode 7 was hopefully not just for fanservice to 80's children.

Also, I don't know how to feel about Toonami coming back. It seems to see that the fans have grown up hense the more adult exterior, but it still won't feel quite the same. It's like its Adult Swim Action with a more nostalgic coat of paint...

Toonami is back...

reply

yes, but now it is on Adult Swim and marketed for grown ups. I saw a promo last night where the once kid friendly Toonami space man referred to the views as "you bitches." So I was essentially called a bitch by the the Toonami space man; I'm really not sure how to feel about that.

reply

I do hope this continues. They need another season to finish out the story. It would be awesome to see the Silverhawks. Monstarr made a cameo appearance and I think we saw the Tiger Sharks race in Mumm-Ra's pyramid in the same episode, so they should be included too. I remember the villains from Silverhawks as being pretty cool, I'd like to see them clash w/ the Cats. And I'd also like to see the Beserkers, the cybernetic Viking guys from th original.

There's a new movement to bring the show back for season two. It's just started but has already gathered many people in a short time. Once they gather 50,000 they plan to release actions to bring it back. There's a Facebook page here followed by links to a couple other sites.

Well "Young Justice" is apparently getting a third season after being off the air for a few years so maybe there's hope for Thundercats 2011 returning.
