That is a custom of explotation movies. It doesnt have to have good writing, acting, effects, directing, it doesnt even have to have a plot, as long as it says it does on the box!

It's also blatantly lying. "Scary Movie" had six writers of which Seltzer and Friedberg were two (most likely the ones whose material most ended up on the cutting room floor). In fact, "Date Movie" was billed as being from "two of the six writers of 'Scary Movie'". The other four should sue their untalented hides for dishonesty.
