Vampires didn't always suck

Just when this ridiculous obsession with twilight began, they began to suck! Even the stupid little television show The Vampire Diaries and whatnot- they're all godawful. Vampires used to be so kickass on Buffy!

reply

True. Anyone remember Fright Night? That remains one of my favorite vampire flicks.

You can kill me, but I'll come back...and back...and back...and back...

reply

From Dusk Till Dawn

30 Days of Night

Bela Lugosi's Dracula

Van Helsing

reply

Don't forget "Let the Right One In"

I'm a modest man, but then I have much to be modest about.

reply

No, I have to disagree on only one point of that. Van Helsing was already sucking because of that suckness that Underworld had started the year before (curiously both films had Kate Beckinsale).

reply

Tom Cruise as Lestadt was when vampires started getting a bad name. Or maybe even before that with Frank Langella (1979)... suddenly they were sexy sensuous creatures instead of horrific soulless monsters.

reply

How about all the Hammer Dracula films? I'd much rather watch one of those films anyways.

But if you want a truly humorous vampire film, you can't go wrong with "The Fearless Vampire Hunters, or Pardon Me, But Your Teeth Are In My Neck.".

And then the piranha jumped clean over the boat.
It was THIS BIG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dracula 1992 is like a fine wine, gets better with each tasting.

Also, I enjoy Horror of Dracula and Blade & Blade II

@smcarter1966:

Another humorous vampire film I could think of is Once Bitten, starring Jim Carrey when he was young.

Anyone remember the series "Forever Knight"?

It wasn't that bad.

reply

Oh yeah. I remember that series. I haven't seen it but I've seen ads of it on cable a few years ago and it seems interesting. I didn't realise the series started in the 80's. I thought it may have started in the 90's and ended somewhere in the early 00's.

Also, there's another series I just remembered. I don't know if you know this but the lead character is a woman and she has short blond hair. I'm not sure if she's a vampire or an immortal.

"Forever Knight" did start in the 90's and finished in 96. It looks like someone messed with the date on IMDB.

what's the series name?

what's the series name?

That's the thing, I don't remember. That's why I'm asking you, lol. All I remember is the lead character is a woman with short blonde hair.

reply

Oh I see.

I'm not really sure myself.

Is this series you're thinking of recent or old?

reply

Old. But not that old. Maybe late 90's or early 00's. Or maybe early 90's. I'm not sure.

The series you're talking about is probably Highlander: The Raven - short lived Highlander spin-off, with Elizabeth Gracen playing the immortal Amanda.

reply

That's possible, her hair was very short and she had dyed it blonde. That series was released in the late 90's too.

reply

Yes, as you've probably read on my previous post, it's called Highlander: The Raven.

A few years ago, they show ads of Forever Knight and Highlander: The Raven a lot on Foxtel cable. That's why when you mentioned Forever Knight, it reminded me of another series as well. I knew she's either a vampire or an immortal.

reply

Yeah, that series was about Duncan Macleod's on and off immortal thief lover Amanda. It lasted only one season.

reply

Cool! It looked interesting. I should have watched it.

I found a link for it.

Thanks for that.

No problem cleftheart101.

reply

That's it... The Raven. Thanks papillon_st!

You know what's funny? I actually remembered the title last night. I was watching How I Met Your Mother, there's a character there called Robin and for some reason it reminded me of another bird name... Raven! That's when I realised it's The Raven.

I was actually going to come here to let WKC know that I remembered the name, but you beat me to it. LOL!

What about Moonlight? Is that considered pre-Twilight?

And what not? You mean True Blood? LOL!

Are there anymore vampire TV shows apart from The Vampire Diaries and True Blood at the moment?
