I HATE most of the movies these guys have done, but...

I recently attended a movie party and the other partygoers wanted to watch this movie. well I was a first time guest so I didn't complain. I just sat down and decided to tough it out for 90 minutes. I had to admit, I was pleasantly surprised.

Now, maybe it's because I was expecting this movie to be so bad as to make me pray to be struck temporarily deaf and blind (this is based on having sat through ALL of Date Movie), but this one is genuinely funny. see, my biggest problem with their other movies is that they declare a genre in the title, but then they don't stick with the theme, choosing instead to parody whatever pops into mind with no regard to making any kind of narrative sense. Also, they often try to parody movies that are already comedies and in doing so they kill the humor. They take something that WAS funny, set up the reference to the original funny movie scene, but then they don't follow through, so instead of a funny or insightful comment on the original they deliver a half-baked, unfunny reflection of it.

In Vampires Suck, the real strength of the movie is that they stick with the theme. Mostly because there's so much of it that they don't have to stray to other film franchises for more crap to make fun of. The credit there has to go to Stephenie Meyer for delivering such an insipid, uninspired pile of *beep* for them to poke fun at.

The Twilight books and films are themselves so much worse than the collected works Friedberg and Seltzer that, as opposed to when they parody movies that are better than theirs, they have nowhere to go but up.

Maybe they should go after Uwe Boll next?

Anyways, I give it a 7 out of 10, which surprises me more than I can express in words.

I'm Ford W. Maverick and I'll see you in hell.
