This movie is actually really funny.

I was expecting more Disaster Movie-esque garbage.
but they really had some good jokes.
There were only a couple potty humor like jokes,
slapstick and stuff like that,
the rest was just making fun of teen angst
and the series being cheesy in general.
I think Twilight fans and "haters"
will think it's funny.
Definitely one of the best spoof movies
out there now.

Give it a shot, I was pleasantly surprised.

This movie stinks, saw the screener, it is wretched. These guys are NOT funny. There is a reason why they "WERE" 2 of the 6 guys from Scary Movie. It is because they were fired! They have the audacity to say, " Some Sagas just wont die". Well, I feel the same way about these so called filmmakers!

I thought this movie was funny even though I like the twilight saga. Wait theres no such thing as unicorns?

Really are you that much of a moron you need everything pointed out to you? And what the hell does Alice in Wonderland, Jersey Shore and Lady Gaga have to do with vampires? Right they are current pop culture people, the only crap they know. You should be locked away in a cage, from ever breeding and bring upon us the end of the world with such stupid kids.

"And what the hell does Alice in Wonderland, Jersey Shore and Lady Gaga have to do with vampires?"

All of those are four second referencs. What you saw in the trailer of them is what's in the movie. Despite what the trailer suggests, the movie actually stays on topic.

I known I've seen it online a while back fortunately. Its still the point of these idiots can't go one movie without making a pop culture reference.

They are basically saying hey look this movie came out at a certain time period!

Disaster movie is the saddest movie ever made. I cried.

60% of the time it works, every time.

Some movies are meant to be taken seriously. Some are not. Some suck. Some don't. Movies are not like music. Music comes down to your personal taste and can't really be judged otherwise (except in terms of influence). Movies can be terrible regardless of personal opinion. If you like bad movies you are worthy of derision. By all means, continue to enjoy movies that are unbelievably insipid.

Well its clearly its not funny to you man. But "funny" is not an absolute thing. If people aren't laughing its not funny, and some of the jokes in this movie don't get laughs- hence- not funny. Other jokes kill. Even if you personally sat there sullen the whole way through (assuming you saw it, I have no way of knowing), lots of people have been laughing their butts off. And when people, laugh, for that moment in time, its funny.

reply

It is what it is - you've seen the previews, you know what it's about, you know what the directors' previous spoofs were like. So you know what to expect. I enjoyed it - a hell of a lot more entertaining than Twilight (didn't see any of the others). It was amusing - I laughed, the crowd laughed. But that doesn't matter in the long run because you will always have these really sad people who will consistently spam this movie's message board with their insipid comments. "How do these movies get greenlit?" "Don't see this movie!" "If this movie makes any money I'll be pissed!" Really? Get a life. If it's something you're not interested in seeing, move on, do something with yourself.

reply

I liie this movie over twilight too, but Eclipse was really good.

Wait theres no such thing as unicorns?

reply

Yeah, but it's easier to hurl "IDIOT!" at someone than to attempt to view things from a different perspective, or at least concede that another perspective exists.

I won't be seeing "Vampires Suck," as I've seen enough clips of the modern spoof movie to make me real goldurned confident that I wouldn't laugh. I nearly wept when my 11-year-old (and new "Twilight" fan) daughter announced she wants to see "Vampires Suck" in the coming weeks. If I were to attempt watching pretty much any one of these types of films, I'd just get more and more irritated and become the turd in the punchbowl for whomever I was watching with. So, I'll just stay away and save everyone an awkward moment.

Intelligence is not necssarily perfectly aligned with a person's sense of humor. It's not so much about intelligence as it is curiosity. In general (you exceptions out there; calm down) I find people who say they thought MTS, or "Date Movie," or "Superhero Movie," etc were hilarious just are not interested in film. Going nuts on them about the superiority of old screwball comedies or Ealing Studios or Korean farce is a complete waste of good invective. It would be like walking into a White Castle and hectoring people about fine French cuisine as they munch their sliders. Why would they care? They just wanted freaking sliders.

But that lack of curiosity or awareness is frustrating to someone who loves being truly surprised and challenged by a film. I happen to be the lone wannabe film buff in my social circle, so I cringe when I hear "hey, let's go to/rent a movie" from a friend, sister or bro-in-law, or even my wife. I know we're going for the most innocuous option out there. My absolute ceiling for the evening is "entertained," and the floor is "depressed and homicidal."

I like being entertained, too, but my favorite films affected me in a lot more profound ways. But if I say so, I get eye rolls and uncomfortable silences. It's just something a lot of people haven't experienced and don't want. I think at the heart of it, my complaint isn't that some people may enjoy a movie or genre I find stone-dumb. Everyone has those; they're called "guilty pleasures." It's when those people refuse to even consider watching films a tad more adventurous that I start to lose patience. And, by "a tad more adventurous," I mean anything that's subtitled, or that's not high concept, or features actors never mentioned on "Access Hollywood," or has been around long enough to leave the "new releases" section at Blockbuster (which seemingly takes about five years).

Sample conversation with movie-clueless friend: "You loved 'Meet the Spartans?' Fair enough. What's your favorite Fellini film? (**RAISED EYEBROWS**) No, no . . it's not THAT kind of movie. He's a famous Italian director. (**BLANK STARE**) Well, would you like to watch 'La Dolce Vita' with me? It's quite an experience! Oh . . you have an appointment with the dog groomer, at 10PM on a weekend? Oh . . OK. Well, some other time."

So, I watch by myself, usually. And, I'm trying to raise well-rounded little film lovers despite my wife's disinterest. Imagine my giddiness when my (then nine-year-old) son voluntarily watched all 3 1/2 hours of "The Seven Samurai" with me, subtitles and all. I tell you, there's hope for humanity, even if I have to create it myself, and even if my daughter somehow finds her way to **SHUDDER** "Vampires Suck." I'll cue up "Let the Right One In" when she gets home and we'll make it a double feature.

Excellent post, douglas-deru. This the kind of thoughtful discussion people should be having in these forums. Many years ago when I joined IMDB I thought to myself "Great! A place where I can discuss films with other like-minded film buffs because who else would take the time to post on an internet message board about films?". Most of that turned out to be wrong. Not that the occasional great thread doesn't happen (they do), but it seems like people who have bad taste in films actively go out of their way to bring the people who consider themselves "film buffs" down a notch or two. It does happen the other way around as well but not as often.

You mentioned awkward silences with friends who don't seem to understand the merits of more challenging films. Some people really want to turn their brain off when they are being entertained. I think that's why films like Inception have received so much backlash on these boards. Its a high profile "think film". Much like food some people just want it to "taste good" and require little work or involvement.

Not arguing (I know, very rare here) I just thought this convo is interesting and wanna add some thoughts.

I feel like I'm the only one that can enjoy a stupid movie, and later at night alone watch something with a lot more depth.

I don't think I've ever "hated" a movie, but some are really boring, and some didn't really grab me much.

I think people that despise certain movies and the people that watch them are actually angry about something a lot more personal, this is a way to feel superior.

"Oh you like this *beep* "wow I must be so smart"

I have noticed a trend, comedies seem to receive the most of these sorts of people. Maybe they just don't know how to laugh? Maybe they take every single movie equally seriously?

I adore movies that make me think most of all, but I can't really watch these with my family - and discussions about them are sadly usually fruitless - so sometimes I'll enjoy a stupid comedy too.

It would be fantastic if folks could criticize the film without resorting to insults but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

I'd normally agree with everything about this type of movie which I've never found funny, but they also deal with serious films about terrible natural disasters and murder and such.

I watched 7 samurais as a kid by my own accord (was probably 10-12 years at the time (luckily we had a few 4 hour vhs tapes. My undisputed favorite movie of all time is Sunshine on the Spotless Mind.

I stumbled upon this movie on TV. I find this so funny because it pokes fun at some of the many cliche and ridiculous aspects of the very predictable, unchallenging Twilight movie. I've only seen the first one, because my life is too short for such teenage blubber and it's utterly forgettable (I don't even remember the ending and my movie memory is usually awesome - oh, right, only for good movies I like).

The early scene where she's in her dad's car scrolling thru an iPod playlist with songs entitled Teen angst, I hate my life etc. (but also when she cuts her finger at his house and squirts blood like a fountain and the guy sees a huge burger where her face is supposed to be is so funny to me, because the original Twilight is one big cliche about being chaste, abusive lovers and schoolmates and the whole Romeo & Juliet can't get each other thing, that appeals to early teen girls who are horny (but not truly sexual yet), and so don't know how to handle the feeling, and therefor go all dreamy for this fluff. You will not find a serious and respected movie reviewer anywhere that loves or even likes these movies, at best an "okay for the target audience", so save your tears this time (all hope is not lost hehe), for while I agree with you about all these movies in general (I'd be disappointed too, if my daughter one day wants to watch those), this is the one funny exception, and only because Twilight itself is so inherently comical. One doesn't need to be stupid or unintelligent to love Twilight, but it sure doesn't hurt to be emotionally immature ;-)
