Funniest scene I've seen.

So let's get out of the way the clear fact this film is super esoteric. The title and the content gives you enough of a gist to piece things together... but oh boy - the execution. The fact that Dumont denies Bresson influences him is peculiar to me but also interesting. Whatever it may be, I can't help it but see Bresson in his work, and it's really not even in the content itself, but the style of his filmmaking and direction of actors as "models". This film I think goes full-on "Bressonian" in that style, and actually - I thought it was hilarious in many of the scenes. Not that it was intended by Dumont, but it just comes off that way from the implemented style in the film.

The "funniest" scene where - had I been drinking something at the moment, I'd have spilt it all over - was the second half of the sex scene with the hitchhiker. I know that Dumont likes to show sex as "animalistic" and not romantic, but my God was that bit funny. The icing on the cake is Le girs doing mouth to mouth all the while groaning aloud.

To be clear, I like Dumont - but there's a lot I find funny in his films. I can't tell if he intends this to be so. I guess that's where the fun is.
