Great Little Film

I thought Junkhearts was a great little film. Top performances from Eddie Marsan, Romola Garai and Tom Cullen as well as newcomer Candese Reid. It's a shame that it seems not a lot of people got to see it.

I watched it at the Cornerhouse in Manchester and there was a Q and A with director Tinge Krishnan afterwards. She is definitely a director to look out for.

Hopefully more people will get to see it when it's released on DVD.

yeah i have to agree it was a great film. imo Eddie Marsan is one of the great english actors and your always guaranteed a top notch performance from the guy. the girl was good but the irish lad just didnt do it for me, his accent sounded fake for some reason(dont know if he is irish or not)he still did well though. sadly i imagine this is the sort of film that wont get any backing from the uk gov soon and thats such a shame because the uk does these types of films so well.

Yes it is a decent film. Marsan is a terrific actor. He portrays people on the margins of society very effectively.
The woman, who seems to be a newcomer, did a very good job too - not an easy task when you're sharing screen time with an experienced and talented actor!
By the way I'm not affiliated with anyone involved in the film, just in case my post comes across that way!

Eddie Marsan is, imo, Britain's very own John Cazale. He the bloke who's unafraid to play the weakling, the loser, the damaged, and does so better than anyone currently in cinema (and, yes, I'm talking the whole of Cinema, worldwide). He's come from bit parts in Eastenders, The Bill (four different characters!), Casualty etc etc. Ever since Gangster #1 he's wormed (literally) his way right to the very top, to the point where you know that if he's in a film, eight times out of ten, it's gonna be a quality drama/script. Twelve months ago I was still saying he's the unsung hero of British cinema. After this film and Tyrannosaur he's at (along with Oldman and Considine) the very top of the acting tree when casting directors consider who to offer their A-material scripts to first. Just a terrific actor whose final CV will read like a list of some the great British movies of modern times.
