I have a question about singer´s quartet style "barber shop".

It made me wonder about the director's attitude toward America. Is the director asking Norwegian audiences to view the universal problems of Sex and Race through American eyes?
The songs were all Country-Western inflected Negro Spirituals, and both genres are singularly American. And, both of these musical styles are renown for the expression of 'lost love' or 'separation from a higher power', and might be the major theme of HAPPY,HAPPY.
Also, President Obama had a brief 'cameo' in the film, and although he is the leader of the USA, certainly America's racial issues have not changed since a Black man became president. And, in the film, there is no resolution in the way that Noa was treated by his young friend.
