Devon and the teacher HAD actually messed around, like, slept together or whatever. On another post, someone mentioned how this movie reminded them of The Crush, with Alicia Silverstone. The girl in that movie never slept with the guy she was obsessed with either, but she still made his life hell and said he raped her, etc.

I guess I'm just sick of "pretty girls going psycho". I recently watched the movie Obsession with Beyonce and it was the same storyline.

I think it would have been waayyy more juicy and interesting if Devon and her teacher had slept together, and then he would abruptly stop. THEN she would have gone crazy and start harassing him and killing his ex wife.

So basically, I think it would have been greater if it would have been like Fatal Attraction.

What do you think?

The problem there is that you couldn't sympathize with the teacher at all if he actually slept with his student. I could sympathize with an adulterer in Fatal Attraction but I couldn't sympathize with a statutory rapist in this movie.

reminiscient of the crucible, where indeed you feel sympathy for the tragic hero proctor who had an affair with abigail and then stopped, putting it behind him.
