Seems like a plot hole to me

OK, we have the devil in the person of a big law enforcement officer. Five people are traveling a back road. At the beginning when they are stopped, 2 are saved, 3 are not. Why does the devil stop them? If he hadn't, they would have either gone on and not met Jesus or they'd have plunged to their death. In either case, the devil would have been the winner. Why does he make them go back, knowing the "Last Chance Diner" is there and that likely Jesus will win some back?

I know! That's why at the end, when they revealed he was the devil I was like "then why was he such a stickler for road safety conditions?"

reply

I think it was because they were all at a crossroad in life and THEY had to be the ones to choose their path.

It's all fun and games until someone gets caught. Then it's larceny.

Let's say God needs a witness. Who's the other one saved? I reckon that there's only one, but if you're talking about the wife, the wife is doubting her faith to Him. Anyways, it's not a plot hole, God uses Satan so they all can go back. God is much stronger than Satan.

P.S: I'm not a religious person.

It's not that the wife doubts her faith in Him, it's that she has no faith at all because she's not a believer. What she thinks makes her a Christian is just wrong. Her tone wreaks of smugness when she declares that she is a Christian because she attends church every Sunday and teaches Sunday School. Her faith is in herself, not in the Lord. She's lost and doesn't even know it.

Jesus: Hank, do you really think that you're going to save, let alone restore your marriage by putting your wife's wishes above mine? She wants to break up your marriage, Hank. I want to save it. You've got to be listening to me.
Katherine: You know, maybe the two of you should get married and just leave me out of it.
Jesus: Katherine, you've been out of it for way too long. It's time that you and I met.
Katherine: Are you saying I'm not a Christian?
Jesus: I'm sorry... you're not.
Katherine: How dare you! I go to church every Sunday! I even teach Sunday School.
Jesus: I know. The sad part is that you would have peace in your heart today if you had half the faith of some of those kids in your class.

There's a difference between Katherine and Nick. Katherine may not be the believer SHE thinks she is in her own mind, but at least she's not rejecting the message. Her heart is still open to receive Him and at the end of the movie, she does. On the other hand, Nick's heart is hardened and he refuses to accept the gift of salvation. Sadly, and mistakenly, he believes that he can save himself.

"God is much stronger than Satan."

So there is no need for hell then?
Why complain about Satan if you could just get rid of him?

Yes, there is damnation

Why complain about Satan if you could just get rid of him?

God can get rid of him not human beings. God doesn't complain about Satan, he warns us and uses Satan as another tool.

You have to read in between the dialogue when the Devil speaks to Nick. The Devil says he didn't close it down, the was the "state administration" AKA God. The Devil tries to get them away from the Last Chance Diner has much has he could.

This movie kinda reminded me of that Twilight Zone episode The Hunt.

Come on. Jesus is love itself and He wanted them all to come to Him. He wants to give us life.

I belong to Jesus: my Lord, Savior, my eternity, my everything. I love you, Jesus!
