The acting was terrible, the script was terrible, even the weather effects were terrible. This is like something a Pastor would force his flock to watch.

Your comment is pointless. The movie sucked and the POINT of the movie got distracted by the concept of jesus showing up in a diner and blabbing to people about their lives.

I couldn't disagree with your comments more. I thought this was a awesome and thought provoking film. I have watched it several times since the first time. We enjoyed it great deal! To each their own.

Yeah, you probably have to be a believer already to like this.
I had to laugh several times because it feels like a parody of Christian movies. But Jesus was also creepy with his smile and the whole thing felt like an abusive relationship with lots of blackmail and brainwashing. If that were to happen between real people instead of Jesus you would either call police, child protective services or a SWAT team.

I enjoyed it. I'm not a believer, but I like the mythology. Of the Christian recruitment movies I've seen so far, I like this one the best. It wasn;t great, but there were some terrific lines in there and the characters were engaging enough to keep my interest (far more interesting than the "Left Behind" series).

Same here. I'm Agnostic but I liked this. I enjoyed the dark atmosphere of the setting.. isolated location, stormy night, diner that isn't really there. There were even some very touching moments. Would love to see more movies like this.

I give The Encounter a 7/10.
