what the girl said at the end is..

well,

i just saw the US remake (from the french original 2008 movie).
the us version didn't tell what the girl said at the end, well i will talk !

She said "there is nothing there,no one", that is why the priest (who listened to her) just suicided himself after heard her.

i guess the US movie is to "puritain" to tell it, so i did!

again, the original is so far away better than this remake !

it is a shame

If it didn't say what she said, how do you know what she said?

reply

because the movie is a exact (scene by scene) remake of the french movie.
and in the french movie, we can hear what she said.
i also suggest you to watch the original because it is more "raw" than the remake which is too "blockbustered"

reply

You don't hear what she says in the original film either...?

reply

I did see the original and I don't recall her words being revealed.

reply

i can remember the text was written on the subtitle from the DVD

reply

in the original you can't here her speak and there is no subtitle txt saying what she said.

I agree with this. I don't recall her words being revealed at all.

No it isn't. for a start the original is 20min longer & there is loads of stuff changed.

and in the french movie, we can hear what she said.

No we don't.

reply

You dont hear what she says. But she does whisper it to the old lady and afterwards the old lady kills herself. She takes the secret to her grave.

She says "There will be more." The priest realises she means more remakes and fills with despair as it dawns on him that many more films will be disrespected by cretinous American studio schlubs so he puts a bullet in his brain.

reply

Hahaha Ha...I may be an American, but this is funny.

Probably because it's the truth of American cinema. Which unfortunately is not funny.

reply

No, we do not hear what she says in the original. But if she did say that "there is nothing" after death why would someone kill himself over it? On the contrary, if this life is all we have, that would provide a strong reason for wanting to stay alive. I think that in the original the tortured girl said to the Madame that there is life after death, and that's why she committed suicide. We have no way of knowing if she told her the truth though.

Fanboy : a person who does not think while watching.

reply

because someone who believes i god doesnt kill himself, thats a sin. are you godamn seriouse? why would someone kill himself, well maybe its because they killed god knows how many peple in the name of religion and it was for nothing. they literally torchered people for their amusment

i'm pretty sure i hear and read it somewhere at the time of french movie out on screen, it was a scandal.

if a priest (or someone totally devoted to religion and god) would know there is NOTHING AND NOONE after the death, then it would be a total wast of life for them.
That why these people will suicide themselves after knowing they wasted their entire life for .. nothing ! too much privation for nothing.
that was a scandal in the press when the movie came out.

even in the movie, the sacrifices (the killed) was for nothing, there is no something beautiful in the eye of the killed, there would have killed for nothing at all.

i had to search, maybe there is a unrated or alt version of the movie , somethind like a undeleted scene or a commentary director.

i'm still remain about that was told liek "there is nothing after life, no-one".

reply

Why don't you just rewatch the end of the film? it will take less than 5min to prove yourself wrong.

reply

as i said, the information must be out of the movie (director commentary or alt version bonus, undeleted..Etc).

reply

No. Nothing is revealed anywhere in the original and I have the DVDs + directors comments and interviews who said that he left the end ambiguous on purpose. Anyway you don't know what you're talking about and thought that the Amercican version was a scene by scene remake of the French original. That only proves your credibility.

reply

In the original, the ending was left open for interpretation on purpose. They don't say what she saw. It's up to us to believe what we want. The director intended it this way. You might simply be confused with interpretations you read from other people on the internet, and most people agree on the 'there is nothing' interpretation, but it's not said in the movie, and it's not supposed to be made clear either. It's up to our personal opinion.

reply

Indeed in both films it was never revealed what exactly she said.

In the original one that was exactly the whole purpose of the film: we are supposed to be left behind baffled and in doubt, just like all the people in this cult who were so desperate to find out what exactly is there after you die.

I think there are majorly 2 interpretations of the original film:
- either the girl said "there's nothing" and the old lady killed herself out of remorse because she realised she had tortured all these people for nothing,
- ór she said "there is a heaven" or anything like that which makes the old lady want to kill herself to go to this 'heaven' as soon as possible.

Now this remake is not only a weaker version of the original when it comes to the gory and terrifying torture details, but it also totally *beep* up the whole purpose of the original film!
You're supposed to be left behind in utter doubt, when in the remake it doesn't even seem to matter what she said. Anna simply shoots the lady, the surgeon shoots himself, and the girls just "die together happily ever after"! -_-

Actually in those scenes where Anna escapes from the grave they tried to burry her in, and goes back to kill all those cult members and to find Lucie, it reminded me more of 'I Spit On Your Grave' than it reminded me of the original Martyrs film.

Also, in the original film it's not about Lucie who happens to be so special, no they show that this cult is capable of picking basically anyone (because in the original Lucie dies and they just continue with Anna) to try and turn this person into a 'martyr' by dehumanizing and torturing them long and thoroughly enough untill eventually they reach this moment of floating between life and death.

Anyway, the remake disappointed me in several ways...but then again, it was to be expected I guess.. You can't top a brilliant film like this anyway, even if they would have made an exact remake scene by scene. So I think it would have been better if they just kept their hands off of this one!

Only positive point is that I did like the acting of the actresses, especially the girl who played Lucie played her part very convincingly.

reply

It sounds like you're just making up crap to stir up controversy and to back up your opinions and beliefs about religion. No, I'm not religious, so I'm not some bigot trying to argue against you about religion. There is no dialogue when Anna tells the lady what she saw. I literally just watched the original and there is no subtitles or dialogue during that part.

reply

i hope people would buy the french DVD (of the original movie, not the remake) with the bonus commentary documentary to understand what i say.

it is easy to tell i am a liar when you download or get a illegal rip of the movie without any comment or alt ending.

reply

[deleted]

You are a goddamn moron. Even after being shown you are incorrect, you keep blabbing the same stupid thought in broken sentences.

I think what the lady in the French version whispered, was that you (specifically, you) exist on this planet. This was obviously too depressing for her to bear.

reply

The IMDB boards are closing. Man up and admit you were talking sh!t. It is okay to be wrong.

reply

i didn't have the package in my hand so , i cannot be able to demonstrate you.

i just advice you to buy a french (or belgium or candiana) DVD with real subtitle (not the .srt on internet) and real audio track, look at the commentaries or bonus edition, director's interviewes..., check the after credits of the french release.

i did not create that myself, i am unable to do that.
