Ha. Loving all the haters on this board.

I guess Marcel should have seen all the haters on the horizon. Given his Top Chef rep most foodies have an opinion of him even before the show started. It looks like I'm one of the few that likes him. He is a bit of a twit, but he's got spunk and more personality than most. I like a little drama so his antics don't bother me. And though he overdoes the foams a bit, he does make some cool looking food.

Better Soak it in while you can...

Yeah, networks these days are so quick to dump a show. Though I'm amused by all the haters I do like this spin on a cooking show and hope it sticks around a while.

I love this show for one reason - it burns Ilan's ass that Marcel got his own show. And that nasty Betty and the chick who shaved her head and Sam.... LOL You go Marcel, I hope it lasts forever.

I've never watched Top Chef and I have no idea who he is. I just didn't like the show itself. It's called the Quantum Kitchen but it's nothing more than a generic reality show. This could have been on Bravo 5 years ago, now it just seems too little too late.

The star of the show, Marcel, is not likable in the least. I'm not fond of batshyt crazy bottom bitches suffering from a Napoleon complex. If I wanted to see that, I’d go down to the local gay bar on underwear night.

This show makes Destination Truth and Josh Gates look like Emmy contenders.

Marcel is *what*? That's just bizarre, and probably reveals more about the poster who wrote it than about Marcel.

Personally, I love this show. I find it informative and entertaining, and I think the whole cast is very likable. Marcel's personality is obviously not to everyone's taste, but to me he's intense, charismatic and frankly adorable. Everything about the show is oddly compelling to me; it's a nice change in focus from the typical cooking shows on the other channels.

I watch Top Chef occasionally, but I had no idea who Marcel was when I watched the show. He doesn't seem like the greatest guy, but he's not really the reason I dislike the show. I love watching shows about cooking, and molecular gastronomy has always been fascinating to me.

I probably should have known what the show was going to be like when the opening sequence came up. I think I started to dislike it when it showed the woman cutting apples. Then she prevaricates over whether she's going to lose her job or not. This irked me to no end. Lady, I seriously doubt you have many worries over job security if you've managed to land in the spot you're in now. Her whining made me think of another thing.

They have picked people from different racial, cultural, etc. perspectives, to form this SUPERTEAM of generically attractive cooking professionals. It's definitely no surprise, but it's what made me decide not to watch any of the other episodes. It just became obnoxious. It's just so superficial, and it grates on the nerves. Generally, people don't want to see ugly people on television, but there comes a point when it becomes tiring and absurd seeing each and every person look like some supermodel. Heck, if even one of them were halfway NORMAL looking, that would help go a long way in trying to fool me that this show has some semblance of legitimacy. Marcel probably fits into that, but it's his show so he doesn't really count. In the end the looks don't matter, surely, but if it were all about their skills then I'm sure they could've found someone who could cut apples efficiently enough.

The folks on the show look like typical LA people to me. They aren't any different people appearing on other cooking shows set in LA ,whether it is private chefs of Beverly hills, or cake decorating shows, my sweet 16, set in LA.

Most of the "reviews" of the show on this board are from Marcel haters and I can't take it seriously because it all starts with judgemental crap based on how he acted on Top Chef not on the actual show itself. The hater reviews are pretty funny though because they just ramble on how much of a douchebag Marcel is (based on his appearances on Top Chef) instead of being an actual review of the show itself.

I think it's rad and that he puts out some sick food on the plate for the people, dude.

reply

yeah, all of the "chefs" are california d-bags. i am waiting them to "ice" eachother.

I like Marcel. I think he's one person who's blessed to actually like the kind of cooking he's doing and he makes it happen. Sure, he's young, but not THAT young. It seems to take a lot of focus and concentration to get from point A to point B in figuring out how to solve a problem making food behave a certain way or look AND taste a certain way. If he made it look like something you or I could do in our own kitchens, he'd get a lot more sympathy on this board.

There are still plenty of foodie viewers who realize that's just not the case. You don't make this kind of stuff for dinner on a Tuesday night. (On 'Top Chef,' the opposite was true - if you bought some of the pricey proteins and had some good knife skills, you could have made anything there for dinner on a Tuesday night. Check out the recipes on bravotv.com!)
