So is Ordell Robbie and Louis Gara the only characters to appear in both Jackie Brown and Life of Crime?

Isla Fisher plays Melanie whose character was also in Jackie Brown.

I wasn't sure if that was the same Melanie character as in JB, since Louis Gara didn't meet Melanie until JB movie.

Yes. For some reason, they changed this in the Jackie Brown movie. . .

In Jackie Brown Louis asks if Melanie is the girl he remembers from way back I seem to recall.

Yeah in Jackie Brown, Louis tells Melanie he last saw her 6-7 yrs ago.
So cool the 3 characters are in this.

This isn't a direct prequel to "Jackie Brown". It just happens to utilize the same characters from Leonard's crime novel universe. Based on the events in this film, the two films are not canon to one another.
