JUST WANT TO ADD TO THIS DECISION WHICH IS A BUMMER BIG TIME FOR ME

I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO PUT THIS - SO I THOUGHT THIS MIGHT BE AS GOOD AS ANY WITH MY LIMITED KNOWLEDGE OF THE INTRICACIES OF FORUM USAGE. PLUS I SAW ANOTHER SIMILAR MESSAGE HERE.

I just read the Message boards are closing & probably other stuff here going to FACEBOOK & TWITTER. I HAVE been with IMDb since 2006 and have liked the way it was in 2006 the best.

I don't belong to FACEBOOK OR TWITTER OR SNAPCHAT OR INSTAGRAM, ETC.

I Don't want to join any of them. I'm relatively new to computers & don't have the time and interest in joining these things and learning how they work.

DOES EVERYTHING HAVE TO BE TIED TO FACEBOOK AND SOCIAL MEDIA NOW?!

I SOMETIMES USE THE MESSAGE BOARDS AND ENJOY THE DISCUSSIONS AND BEING ABLE TO SHARE MY THOUGHTS ONCE IN A WHILE. This has been my go to site about movies.

I guess I'm going to have to see if there is a movie site like this one used to be. I know there must be a lot more people in my demographic that are bummed out too.

I REALLY LIKE THIS SAYING FOR THIS SITE.....IF IT WORKS, DON'T FIX IT!!!! AND THIS WORKS GREAT AS IT IS WITHOUT SUCH A MAJOR CHANGE.

OH WELL - NO POINT IN TYPING ANYTHING ELSE.

I agree. It really sucks that the message boards are closing. Nobody is going to migrate over to Facebook and YouTube for the sole purpose of posting about movies and actors. That's what IMDB is supposed to be for, but they're killing that aspect. A big mistake, in my opinion, and it's going to cost them in the long run.

The great thing about the IMDb boards is there's one for every movie, from Bicycle Thieves to the latest blockbusters. You can't recreate that on Facebook. Yes, some are infested with trolls, but most aren't because there are thousands of movies and the idiots won't have heard of most of them.

I've been a member for 12 years and had some interesting and illuminating discussions over the years. Mostly I just lurk and read other people's observations. There's little reason me to visit this site without the message boards.

Thanks a lot Durp1 & gloops for pitching in. There were no computers around when I went to school. I like playing poker a lot for money (but not real big money). I lived out West b4 I moved to GA.

Lots of live poker out West where u play with other people. None of that in GA. But there were lots of online sites for Americans to play for cash. It was great at 1st. Then this senator attached a bill to another bill that he knew was gonna pass.

And our government for the people by the people (what a joke now). We live in an oligarchy and/or a plutocracy right now....far from a democracy.

The bill I was referring to was one that protected our ports about 5 years after 9-11. So at the last minute this senator (who retired soon after) added a clause which made it very difficult to play online anymore & most sites left the U.S. market & there are only a few now.

I think the senator wanted the online poker money to go to all the lotteries which have added so any new games & scratch off tickets for $20 each & maybe higher now. And studies have confirmed that all these nation & state lotteries hurt the poor people the most.

And why is a senator allowed to add a clause with no debate or study or anything where he gets to decide what he thinks is good for me & millions like me. The other countries let their citizens decide for themselves.

OK - the bottom line that this leads up to...DA DADDA DA. In poker - I like to play tournaments as well as cash games. There are so many different kinds of tournies now that it is amazing.

And at the few sites left they all have some tournies that I like the structures of & I'd like to play in....BUT YOU CAN'T UNLESS YOU ARE ON FACE BOOK OR ARE WILLING TO SIGN UP/REGISTER FOR FACEBOOK B4 U CAN PLAY!!!!

ENOUGH OF FACEBOOK TIED TO EVERYTHING. WE ALREADY HAVE NO PRIVAVY WHICH WAS SUPPOSED TO BE GUARANTEED! WHEN TRUMP GETS BACK TO THE WHITEHOUSE HE'LL PROBABLY WANT IT TO BE NAMED "LORD TRUMP'S HOUSE OF WHITE TWITTER".
