Another Disney token black character

Excuse me, but I don't recall "a black captain" saving the day in the original Cinderella. We already had an all black version that was a disgraceful flop, and now have this character thrust upon us. Disney feels the need to throw in minority characters to be politically correct. It just makes me turn the movie off.

Yes, this is true.

And don't forget the black lady who was trying on the slipper even though there is no possible way she could have been Cinderella since everyone at the ball saw that Cinderella was white. That's an even bigger example of liberal/SJW bull.

reply

How concealing was the magic that Fairy Godmother put on those shoes?

reply

"Thrust upon us?" How so? Would you have liked it better had he been part of the kitchen staff, or a stable boy, perhaps?

reply

Not to mention that the all Black version, if you're talking about the Brandy and Whitney Houston version, had quite a number of people who liked it, despite the low imdb and other scores. Also, it's not like it's a "White" story. Almost every country has a version of the story, which has been around for centuries. The earliest, "origin" story, appears to be from China. And these stories are for EVERYONE who watches them, not just a privileged few, or those of a certain color or ethnic background. People, especially our innocent children, want to see themselves when they watch movies. That's why we watch--to be entertained, educated, and to fire our minds and imaginations. Would you deny others that right?

reply

Next it will be a gay marriage to make it politically correct.

reply

I wouldn't mind a lesbian Cinderella who has stepbrothers instead of stepsisters and there's a Princess instead of a Prince.

I'm excited about a trans version in which Cinderella was assigned female gender at birth by an arrogant male doctor of the patriarchy simply because zie had a vagina and XX chromosomes, but who is inspired by all the other teenage girls in her peer group who are going trans, and decides that zie, too is now a boy!

reply

And she shouts at the end "I'am a real boy now"

reply

This is a common occurrence in Kenneth Branagh's period movies. He did the same thing in his 1996 adaptation of Hamlet.
