Regeneration or Day of Reckoning

I LOVED regeneration. I'm 31, grew up with action movies, saw the original as a kid(still watchable), but I'm not exaggerating that Regeneration was one of the best action movies I've seen. Total replay value, plot simple enough(but not dumb)to drive the story along.

Now Day of Reckoning: what it shares with regeneration is its action scenes and that cool synthe score. Although I don't remember any slo-mo shots in the last one, d.o.r. had quite alot.

The negatives though was that it easily felt 20 minutes to long(nothing against movie lengths, love Good bad and ugly)The plot was much more complex than Regeneration but was still filmed like a minimalistic storyline approach which made it feel very off and boring in parts.

John Hyams is a great action director, but Regeneration was soooo good cause it was more about the setting and these characters are just a part of it. Whereas Dragon Eyes and Day of Reckoning had a main character, but both movies were just kinda boring(even with the cool action scenes)

Nothing against slo-mo shots here and there, but DOR and Dragon Eyes had alot and Regeneration didn't have any, which wins in my book. If you film the scene well enough, you don't need slo-mo to wow the viewer

Regeneration >>>>> Day of Reckoning.

Day of Reckoning is a borefest.

Regeneration. It's more efficient, and seldom relegates to long bouts of exposition. Van Damme actually has considerable screen time in it. The action sequences are mind blowing in their execution and don't rely on the excessive use of slo-mo. It is a better action film than Day of Reckoning, but I appreciate Day of Reckoning trying to expand the series to new genres. It just wasn't that successful at doing it.

Tnx for your input guys. Damn, I feel like Regeneration again right now, which would make it my 5th time I believe. Maybe I'll watch D.o.R. one day again, maybe.

Looks like I'll be in the minority--but I've hated every single 'Universal Soldier' movie (including 'Regeneration') up until this point. In fact, I think the smartest move this "franchise" ever made was going to Scott Adkins as the feature man of the series. I don't know if I truly "liked" this new one--but I felt it was certainly the strongest effort in what is generally an extremely weak film series.

I watched DoR, and I'd like to see Regeneration now.

DoR was hit and miss. I appreciated its ambitiousness.

I really gotta ask one thing.. If you hated every single movie of the franchise why even bother to keep watching the new movies?
Don't know bout you but when I dislike (or even hate) a movie I'm not even considering watching the sequel and after hating the sequel too how can you possibly go and watch the 3rd and while hating that one too go and watch the 4th?

I liked both, but think Regeneration was better.

Regenaration was good, but Day of Reckoning was surprisingly awesome! So, Day of Reckoning gets my vote!

I prefer Regeneration over all of them, however the fight scenes in Day of Reckoning were pretty good with Scott Atkins.

I'm not saying its a bad movie, but Day of Reckoning is a completly different type of movie when comparred to Regeneration. I honestly prefer Regen, but DoR is not a bad movie, just a very different one than what at least i expected. Just keep your mind open, and your up for some sweet action scenes...

Regeneration was 1000 times better than this Piece of crap. Why was this even made? Even the fight scenes weren't that impressive.
