No silly plot twists that reduce many of these films to childish levels and not over-laden with too much action, which again reduce many of these films to childishness.

I agree.
I came across this film on late night cable, and thoroughly enjoyed it!

Agreed. Picked up a cheap DVD because I liked the cast and it's OK. I'm guessing it's a relatively low cost European thriller rather than a big budget Hollywood effort but it's tightly told and all the better for the absence of over the top CGI silliness.
