Love this movie, but....

I always found it a bit unbelievable/annoying that Sam and Patrick left for college literally the day after they graduated from high school. That always seemed so unrealistic to me and I suppose it's meant to emphasize Charlie's loneliness as his friends are leaving, but I feel like it would have been just fine to have them spending some time together during the summer before they left. It just seemed so abrupt that they were leaving for college only one day later. I mean, who does that? The dorms wouldn't be ready for them yet.
