Understanding For A Loved Ones Killer Is Absurd

I don't care what kind of sob story the killer of her husband fed her, she's an idiot for embracing the kid and being motherly no matter how noble her intentions were........ or are!
This mess of a current generation are already mollycoddled enough already without some widow providing a shoulder for a punk to cry on....or for providing other wastes of life an excuse to do something heinous and avoid paying for their crime too!

Preaching to the choir, my man. If my mom befriended the scumbag who killed my dad, I would never forgive her.

I can't say how I would feel ~ having watched the movie I understand her compassion because the boy did feel remorse and shame for his actions. He was wasted and committed murder on someone who was innocent. What he did was hateful and I don't know if my heart would be as big and forgiving as hers if I, God forbid, were ever in her shoes

Yeah it's a tough one, I can understand all the benefits of forgiveness for everyone (and it does help the victims too) but it's possible to forgive without forming a friendship...

Then again I think if people feel a calling to really go out and publicise things to stop it happening to others, they know working together is best...

There was a case here in Australia about a young teenage boy who killed a young woman by running into her with a stolen car. Her family forgave him and met him in jail etc. His identity was suppressed because he was a minor and he was in a juvenile detention for a while, but then released. Since his release he's gone on to show he's a bad egg and it was all a waste of time by repeatedly stealing cars, breaking and entering and stealing money and valuables. The worst part is that his identity is still secret because of his juvenile crime. I feel so bad for the victims.

Spot on. Ryan should have got murder 2, not manslaughter and 5 years. People say he is just a kid, a boy. If you are old enough to get drunk and *beep* around, you are old enough to be tried as an adult and bear the consequences.

What makes her an idiot for forgiving? The movie doesn't say how long it took her to get to that point. Most people think forgiveness means "what you did was okay." That's not it at all.

The young man did show remorse but the anger wouldn't hurt him, now would it? No. That could've hindered her interaction with others, how she raises her children, etc. Not forgiving may have hindered her from moving on.

Forgiveness isn't overnight, it usually takes awhile. It takes work. It's a struggle. The wife managed to do it and I commend her. There are people who do idiotic things and by far, forgiving isn't one of them, in my opinion.

Never do something permanently foolish just because you are temporarily upset!
