there must be more to this story than movie shows(spoilers)

I found it hard to feel sorry for or forgive this kid who seemed to come from a good home, yet got drunk out of his mind and viciously attacked and killed an injured adult man who had done nothing more to him than nicely ask him and the other kids to move their party downstairs. His excuse was that he had been laughed at by other kids when he hadn't stood up to a bully. This man was not a bully,he was already injured, and the other kids didn't even see the boy's cowardly attack on the man.
There was obviously something radically wrong with this boy, but it wasn't explained satisfactorily in this movie, so that I could sympathise with the victim's wife being so forgiving. There was probably more to the disturbed boy's story in real life, but it wasn't in the movie.

Now she married her lawyer just MONTHS after her husband's MURDER? I think that woman's a weak moron.

reply

Yeah...that's a bit odd.

No, it wasn't in the movie, and I must say that I raised my eyebrows about that when I started reading about the case. Actually, I kind of got the feeling that they were sort of hinting at that with the detective similar to how most of the kids were composites of the guys that actually did it.

I don't remember, but did the real-life scenes at the end feature her new last name or just her first name? If not, that's awfully deceptive (if they used Bob's name I mean).

Gus:I have never been so motivated to make money
Hardison: Yeah, if Godzilla's a gecko

reply

The scenes at the end only had her first name.

I am glad I don't have a Katy for a wife. Ryan was lucky to have got away with 5 years. He should have got murder two, not manslaughter.

Don't get me wrong, I totally understand being angry with the guy who killed the husband but I would have been equally upset with the parents. What kind of upbringing have they had when they think its okay to keep it a secret and actually not be effected by the death. NO emotions about it? The parents did not think their kids could've ever been responsible and yet they were a part of the abuse (to some degree). At least from what the movie portrayed, the parents would've protected the kids. I don't understand that. I would grill my son/daughter and if I even suspect my kid had something to do with it, the police had better come and get him/her from ME! It seemed as if the parents condoned their "wild" behavior.

Never do something permanently foolish just because you are temporarily upset!
