Ratchet's choice (Spoilers ahead)

Ratchet's choice to stay on Earth makes no sense to me. Why stay on Earth I am rewatching old episodes and i can't find any reason why he "knows where he is needed." Do not think their is a need for robot medic and engineer there. But for rebuild their world i think they need him there. It is the only thing about series finale that has me confused. My question is does anyone have any info in terms of odd episodes i may have missed? All I think is Unicorn being Earth's core but still then he is a medic and engineer i don't see how he could solve that problem if that is even a problem.

That whole part seemed like the writers wanted to somehow bring Ratchet's character development to its conclusion, despite that he hasn't exactly shown many signs of coming to terms with living on Earth in previous episodes.

He's always been the pessimistic, grumpy, Earth-hating type, so it was pretty much guaranteed that by the end of the series, he's change his outlook, but the way it was handled was very tacky. I mean, he did befriend Raf, which was cute and all, but it still feels like a big jump from that to "I suddenly don't hate this planet anymore for some reason and want to stay here!" The point you bring up, with him being the only active medic the Autobots know of (besides Knock Out, but why would they trust him?), makes it seem even less thought-out.

Had they developed Ratchet's personality more, then this moment wouldn't have stood out. I felt the same way about the thing with Bumblebee too -- he had next to no importance in the show so far, could barely be even called a character, and they give him this huge, incredibly dramatic faux death-scene and resurrection... again, this payoff may have had some actual impact if Bumblebee had been developed better during the show. Likewise, if Ratchet had shown more signs of growing used to (or even liking) Earth, his choice would have made more sense and would have brought his character's personal "journey" full circle.

Maybe the plot for the upcoming movie requires him to be on Earth or something.

i believe your right i think they left him on earth so that his story wraps up in the tv movie that's coming out..reason why he stayed behind is to work the ground bridge even tho Raf does know how to do it but remember Raf isn't as experienced as Ratchet is with working the ground bridge and plus Ratchet would scan the earth for any remaining Decepticons and relay the info over to Optimus Prime...Bumble bee's death was bit lame as it was shown in slow motion lol but it was a way to get his revenge by killing the one who stole his voice so like we say in life Kharma's a bitch lol

I thought that BEE's death/revival scene was awesome.
People love bumblebee since the live action movies and they really made this scene show how all of the autobots stopped what they were doing to watch their friend and brother fall. And then as one of the fan favorites he came back to be the main hero.. it was well done.

Rachets decision I agree with you on, it didn't make sense

I hope Ratchet decides to return to Cybertron after the tv movie and i think he believes he's better off on earth seeing as he was more appreciated and helpful and plus came to liking earth and its ppl lol

I think Ratch staying on Earth will make way for the tv movie.

It's the only real explanation for it. He hates the shortage of spare parts and Earth Tech.

Orcas are the best.

True and yet Megatron managed to not be shortage of parts or hate earth tech lol...whatever ratchet decides will pave way into the new series if he will be there

Well, looks like I was wrong. His decision had absolutely nothing to do with the movie. Ratchet pretty much went:
"I hate Earth, I want to go back to Cybertron! What, Cybertron is inhabitable again? You know what, I suddenly want to stay on Earth instead. What, you say the other Autobots need me on Cybertron? Okay then, forget Earth."

What tripe. Instead of developing properly, slowly throughout several episodes, he just randomly has a sudden change of mind and heart at the end of one episode... only for it to have no bearing on what happens afterwards? Then what was the point of him wanting to stay on Earth in the first place?

A little late but wanted to put this out there, there's a common story telling device for heroes who work to save an important place. Very often, they end up saving it for others, not for themselves.

Ratchet's "Cybertronian pride" had always kept from really connecting with Earth or the humans. In fact, at one point his disinterest almost cost Raf his life. And then Ratchet agreed to help Megatron build the Omega Lock thing to save Cybertron, even though he knows full well the Cons would never leave Earth alone.

You can look at Ratchet staying on Earth as a self imposed penance for his decision to put Cybertron before Earth. It wouldn't be the first time Ratchet sacrificed his own happiness or well being to make up for a perceived failure on his part. And he doesn't return to Cybertron in the TV movie to enjoy himself, he returns because there's a patient. You know, makes sense. He's just a doctor who makes house calls now!
