Criminally underrated and fantastic film!

I loved the movie, it amazes me how something like this gets unnoticed yet a film like say Shutter Island is praised when both ideas are on the same level and even execution. For some odd reason the film reminded me of Shutter Island. The film had a really interesting message one where after watching, it will make you think and will make you argue it or even agree with it.

If you liked this movie, watch another of Frenchy's, the superior Martyrs.

I thought this movie was okay, but hardly thought-provoking. Never for a moment did I think those who steal children are anything but scum.

BTW I thought Shutter Island was superior to The Tall Man, but not as good as Martyrs...

Yes, but it wasn't questioning that. It was completely subverting the way we look at motherhood, rather than praising the kidnappers.

Totall agree! I wasnt holding out much hope on it but it had me gripped all the way through. It was one of the bet films I've seen in recent memory. The acting and atmosphere were superb, the perfect film to watch alone on a cold dark windy night.

Spoiler....

Since I didnt know what to expect from it I was actually a little disappointed it didnt have a supernatural twist at the end.

Great movie. It's been on my list since it came out and I finally watched it.

I quite enjoyed it as well. Not on par with Martyrs, but it's that last line of dialogue that echos in the brain as the credits roll that drives the entire point of the film home. While the rest of it is a rather mundane, but enjoyable, thriller, the ending is what elevates it to something greater than it would be otherwise. I suspect that ending is what sparked the idea for the film to begin with.
