shareI thought the age difference was sort of weird and distracting at first - but as the movie progressed and Julianne and Ellen really got into their roles, I stopped thinking about it. By the end of the movie, I didn't care. It's a stellar movie, give it a chance. :)

Looking into the real story the main characters are suppose to 19 years apart in age . So the movie was pretty accurate with putting Ellen and Julianna together

shareThe age gap was a bit uncomfortable, especially because (as you say) Page looks about 16, but I thought they had quite nice chemistry anyway. They made it work through solid performances.

Moore really needs to stop playing a dyke. She couldn't pull it off in Kids Are Alright and she couldn't pull it off here
The age difference, as others said, is factual and although a bit distracting at first seemed natural once into the movie some.
And I am concerned for you if you thought she looked like a boy.
