This season started off good, but a few of the episodes had too many scripted elements and characters. It's ruining the illusion that it's a real show, the horse-meat and Brule family visit being the worst.
"Listen, do you smell something? -Ray Stantz"
Yeah they ruined it, Brule is too rude and acts like a brat, curses too much, acts too confident plus there's too many characters. When interviewing non actors he's also way too cocky, before he was nice and child like.
Not to mention how weird and surreal the show got.
I liked the way he did the character the most in the earlier seasons 1and 2. But I like season 3 in its own right as well.

I agree. I don't consider this a prank show. He's not Ali G. Just enjoy it for what it is, just believe in the Brule. He's naive, immature, awkward and sometimes a jerk. So what. He just wants to be a hunk and he knows he may never be. He deals with that in his own way.
Season 4 got back on track, guess S3 was a misstep.
