The Jarle who loved guys?

The main character of this flick is obviously the same as in "The Man Who Loved Yngve". Same character name, same actor, references the one-night-stand from TMWLY.

In that really adorable movie, the same Jarle discovers, that he is more attracted to a blond guy he meets in school, than to his absolutely stunning and lovable girlfriend. So it stands to reason that he is at the very least bi, if not gay. (Sorry for labeling ^^)

Nothing that I've so far read or watched (trailer) mentions anything about him being attracted to the same sex. So instantly I think about this movie aiming for mainstream approval whatever the cost, especially since its a sequel.

Am I judging too quickly?

Is there any mention of Jarle not being your typical heterosexual university party animal?

It would really bug me, if the character that was lovingly created in the first movie, were ignored, to make this movie easier to digest for people who are uncomfortable with homosexuality.

I've read all the books about Jarle Klepp except the most recent one (can't wait), and both movies follow the books closely, as far as I can remember. There is really nothing in the books that indicates that Jarle ever has feelings for another man after Yngve. It seems to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. So the movie isn't an attempt to make Jarle's sexuality more "acceptable" to the public- in the books he is a man who falls in love and sleeps with women, and who fell in love with a boy once as a teenager, and this is what both movies portray. The movie's made by the same people who made Yngve, and I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be afraid to show it if Jarle also slept with or had feelings for men. But it's not in the book. :)

Thanks for the reply. If thats the vision the author had for the character its of course cool for the movie to show it how it is. Still a little weird. Someone being hot for girls all his life, and falling for a guy one time only. I couldnt picture that happening to me.

The only problem I noticed with your English is you have a bunch of extraneous commas! In the original post, commas #4,5,8,9 and 10 are unnecessary. Otherwise, I wouldn't even have known.

We are the coup, you idiot!

I'm a gay guy that once was in love with a girl. I guess it's the same concept.
