The death scene of the sniper reminded me of the scene in Platoon where the character played by Wilem Defoe, also named Elias, was running from the Vietcong soldiers in the jungle and eventually got killed. Does anyone think that the sniper's scene was a homage to Platoon?

It reminded me of that too but I haven't heard it's a homage and there was no mention in the 'making of ...' docu.

Just saw the BluRay from Netflix and it was mentioned in the 'making of.'

Think it had to have been intentional given how similar the musical scores were along with the rest.
