The guy Luke met at the homeless shelter?

I was just wondering why is that the guy that was given Luke's shoes was killed with his throat slashed.

Vassily told Luke that he would kill anyone he befriends, which is why he had the guy killed.

I feel sorry for the Russkie who had to hang around with all the bum in the homeless shelter to see who Luke befriends.

Because it can be really dangerous for a homeless person to have nice stuff- other homeless people will steal it and use violence to get it. Even non-homeless view the homeless as easy robbery victims because the homeless generally are malnourished and sickly. So any type of thief would be quick to steal the boots.
