This looks like a straight to DVD/Blu-Ray movie to me. Cage has been making a lot of those laterly. From the movie "NEXT" & "Sorcerer's Apprentice" to "Ghost Rider 2", all these movies really weren't good enough for theaters.

Sorcerer's Apprentice was not a great movie but it looked good.

Plus it had a high budget I don't think Disney would please if it was released straight to DVD.

Also all of those movies you mentioned got released in theaters so it makes your point null.
