The Tree of Life should have won

just watched it on TCM and I was knocked over by how good it was - the charming actors; the set; the dog; the joy the pathos ( now I'm going over the top) but in my mind deserving the oscar as best picture
shareThe Artist
The Descendants
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
The Help
Hugo
Midnight in Paris
Moneyball
The Tree of Life
War Horse
Here is the list of the other nominees from the pack that The Artist won over. Nothing really iconic here. Even if you polled 100 people "name 3 George Clooney movies" most would not include The Descendants, good as it was, which was very.
So The Artist won. It was a thin year. The Artist was adorable though. Sure it was gimmicky, but it worked. And I too love the dog.
I would have picked Hugo - I thought it was spectacular and human
shareHm... it would seem none of the nominated pictures fits in my personal top 5 of the year. I'm pretty OK with The Artist winning though - and would have been with The Tree Of Life, likewise.

Indeed, just a very weak year for the Academy. The Artist was just the lone cornstalk in a very poor crop.
shareI might agree with you if you could tell me what the heck it means. Couldn't make heads or tails of it.

LOL! Pretty funny. Or The Fountain. Even funnier. Two of the worst films ever made.
shareIt's the one people still discuss to this day. But too weird for the Academy.
