I think big part of the story owes a lot to "Race With The Devil" (type of vehicle, satanists...), of course this one goes in a different direction, more fantasy-gory..., and with different twists and background story.
I thought the same thing, who ever wrote this must have just watched RWTD. In RWTD they were headed from Texas to Co to ski, in Hard Ride to Hell they are headed from Co to Tx. What was with the albino cobra??? there are no cobras in North Amreica excpt ones people import and what are the odds one ends up in the middle of nowhere west Tx????
