Why did he leave? (spoilers)

I don't understand why Austin let all that out on his wife at the last minute about his real reason for not wanting to have children with her. What did he marry her for.

He messed around and got that white woman pregnant to add insult to injury.

Yeah, that was pretty weird. Why would he marry a woman he knew he didn't want to have kids with? And why didn't she pay attention in the beginning when he says he made it clear he didn't want to have kids? If my husband was pulling out when he knew I was on the pill, we would have been divorced way earlier when I still had a chance to find another husband.

This movie was better than I expected. I'm glad I watched it. NetFlix Streaming.

I was so surprised when they showed him and his pregnant girlfriend.. I was SO sure that the reason that he was so upset about her wanting kids so badly was that he knew that he couldn't have kids or something similar. I called the rest of the movie, but that part definitely threw me off.

If I remember correctly he said he didn't want kids because he didn't know how long he would be with her. IMO that was his way of telling her he had fallen out of love and was close to filing for a divorce. He probably always wanted kids just not with her. But instead of being honest he lied and said he wasn't ready for kids, it's not time, etc.

So the question that remains unanswered is - what was his problem with her. They seemed happy in the beginning and got along fine as married couples do. His change was sudden and made no sense. I think that story line is the one flaw of the writing. I don't like that they let the two married couples break up. I would have preferred they had shown at least one married couple working things out.

Long story short, I think he didn't want a dark skin baby with his dark skin wife and instead of being a man and telling her that he made up excuses and treated her like crap in hopes that she would get fed up with his crap and blow up, thus freeing him to leave the marriage and marry who he wanted from the beginning.

I agree with one of the posters. He fell out of love with her. The question will continue about "why" because they left it kinda vague with the exception of his facial expressions when he was trying to go to work. Also, they showed an argument and she clearly got under his skin with something that seemed to be ongoing. They didn't spell it out. Aren't relationships similar many times? You may not realize that the person's interests are elsewhere but somewhere in there the focus is on someone else or something else.

In my opinion, she was more focused on having a baby than she was being in love with him. One saying goes something like "if you're having problems with a man then have his baby". It doesn't always keep us around though. In this case, it surely didn't. And I don't believe that he was cheating in this instance either.

He didn't want to have a baby. I think every time he looked at Victoria he felt pressure and that's why he exploded the way he did. I think that's why he hooked up with another woman so quickly and with the "pressure" off, she conceived. It wasn't very long (three or four months) I think he regretted divorcing Victoria, but couldn't get back after treating her so shabbily. It all worked out in the end - everybody happy. except I'm not so sure he's going to be happy being a father.
