At least through season 1 (series 1 for Europeans)...

...this original version is much better than the American remake. The characters in this original version are believable. They are caught up in a maddening situation but they come across as real blokes with a complicated past. In the American remake version the 4 main characters come across as buffoons, clowns, and pussies. They are unwatchable. In the original version there's real tension that draws you into the show and doesn't make you want the 4 leads to all die. In the American version I really did wish they'd all die.
