How does the Sci-Fi channel keep getting money for this crap?

How do they keep doing it ? These sponsors must be really desperate.
I mean give me 50 grand and I'll do something that at least has a better script.

As I said earlier. For what they spend on what 'they' think is new. They could had an old re-run or could have bought the rights for an old movie to show thats not in their storage locker. Why keep pouring good money down the drain on a junk plot or story line, when you can save that money and spend it on something good?

Then again they have to make money, but who is ever running this show doesn't have a clue!

UNLESS!

They just want to TRY and show-case new, never-before seen talent?
Yea, the economy is tough, so they give these kids a break and they fill a time slot.

I agree with you BigWhiskers, it really is a shame they have taken the Jerry Springer approach to Sci-Fi. At this point I think we can all agree that SyFy is INTENTIONALLY making the worst movie they can!!! You cannot tell me that with the resources they have and millions of dollars to throw at these, they couldn't make a better movie.

These pieces of crap are a spoof of science fiction more then anything. Also at the end of the day, you cannot tell me when they do the final edit before they wrap production, that even one of the writers/producers do NOT realize what a joke piece of crap it is.

I too am a fan of the science fiction genre, but when it comes to the stinkers they keep churning out, I mean come-on lets be real here!! The least they could do is try...

This article gives some good detail about Syfy's strategy and why the economics work:

Actually "Iron Invader" is a pretty decent sci-fi/horror tv flick about a scrap metal statue coming to life and terrorizing a town in the NW. It's got a good cast, story and a serious vibe, although they could have cut it by at least five minutes at the end.

I don't see how anyone can describe it as a "joke piece of crap."

Now, "Mega-cleavage vs. Skelatroid" and other such syfy disasters? That's a different story.

I wasn't really picking on this movie so much (to tell you the truth I did not even watch it). I saw that it was on and was curious what the buzz was on it, assuming it was just like the other crap movies released by the ScyFy channel twice a month.

By accident some of them are OK, but 9 out of 10 of these dreks are just unwatchable. I was pointing out what a shame it is how the channel approaches these movies and is seemly intentionally making the worst crap movie they can.

It would be nice if they took their art form seriously and tried to put out quality SciFi movies. With this Jerry Springer meets Troma meets Jersey Shore mentality they are making a mockery of the SciFi genre. With the resources and money the channel has it would be nice if they actually made an effort and showed just a little bit of artistic integrity.
