The mom did not seem to care about her daughter much

She is very easily talked out of running out to save her. Also, near the end, when fighting the pieces with the beer, she almost lets her daughter die. A piece is creeping up, and she is wasting her time fighting by the bar. Instead of attacking pieces coming at you, why not run away, slip past them (you can go back later) and deal with the one about to kill your child. She stops it when it was like an inch from her daughter. what a bitch.

actually come to think of it, this seems to be a theme in SyFy films. I notice that in almost every one in which there is a mom and daughter, the mom never seems too concerned about her kid.

She was probably hoping that the monster would stand on Amanda and squash her. She was making such an amazing amount of noise with her stupid screaming I would have happily fed her to it.
