How much do they get for starring in movies like this? Are these ex-Stargate, ex-BSG, etc. actors able to make good money doing this or are they doing it just to pay their mortgage.

I was wondering that too! I would expect that a lot of it depends on if the actor has a name at all in the business. For example, I would bet that Tiffany and Debbie probably got a decent paycheck (my guess would be anything from 50k to 100k)for the crap-tastic Mega Python vs Gatoriod.
However, the unknown John/Jane Doe out-of-work actor desperate for any kind of exposure I'm sure would make very little. In fact, they may be a hourly type of wage. Meaning the producers know this project will only take a couple of weeks to film, so actors may get a couple thousand a week for their services.

Thanks for the info. It's interesting because everyone NOT in the business assumes that everyone on TV is rich. But the reality is that unless you've landed on a decent series that gets picked up for more than a season, life as a tv actor is not necessarily glamorous.
And this type of movie proves it. $21K pays quite a few bills in most places but if someone is living in LA or NYC supporting a family this lasts you 3 months at most and thats being very frugal. I guess the real challenge is stringing together consistent work throughout the year. No wonder so many resort to the casting couch.

So I suppose Mr. Smith was the star name for this film. I once worked for a production company that made Movies of the Week (way back when networks like ABC and NBC showed MOWs)and all those actors got SAG scale, which if memory serves was at the time around $1600 per week plus 10%
