A golem is actually made from earth, not metal

Nice try, though. Being a bit familiar with Jewish folklore, there most notable golem was created by the great R' Yehuda Aryeh Leib, aka the Maharal, of Prague. He created the golem from earth, holiness and kabbalistic methods. This being even had a name, Yosef.

In Jewish folklore, a golem (play /ˈɡoʊləm/ goh-ləm; Hebrew: גולם‎) is an animated anthropomorphic being, created entirely from inanimate matter. The word was used to mean an amorphous, unformed material in Psalms and medieval writing.[1]

The most famous golem narrative involves Judah Loew ben Bezalel, the late 16th century chief rabbi of Prague.

as taken from the wiki for golem (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golem) and i repeat "inanimate matter" you know like earth, METAL, or even plastic

also i've never seen the movie so idk why you would reference golem other then maybe they called it a golem which it would barley qualify as such if the description of the movie is right, and i say barely because the description says that an alien bacteria brought it to life and if thats the case then it's not a golem, not because it's made of metal, like you said, but because it's controlled by an organic creature on or in it

he wasn't actually trying create a golem. he was creating a statue of one. you should have actually watched the movie.

Exactly... he just named his "art" an iron golem because he felt like it.
