I don't think they should have brought the show back

What worried me when they announce that not only it was coming back, but it will be on a different channel was that just like The Game, they would change up a lot of things that made the show interesting in the first place and it seems like they did just that. I know a lot of people had a problem with this, they completely change up the entire show including the feel of it. If Denise Vasi was not going to come back as Raquel, its simple just recast her with somebody else instead of killing the character off which not only makes no sense but throws the fans off because it looks completely different from where the show left off last season.

what do y'all think, was it really worth it for them to bring the show back?

reply

After watching the first 2 episodes, it just seems so different and not just because Denise Vasi didn't return

It's like the episodes sucked, but they make it seem like it's leading up to something that might not suck

I'll give it one or 2 more episodes. But with this new format, I don't see it lasting long enough.

I get wanting to quit to raise your baby, but that's also disappointing your fans

I mean even Sheryl Lee Ralph continued to guest star on Moesha's last 6th season when she quit because she disagreed with a season 5 storyline.

reply

I completely agree with you and its suppose to make you want to come back for more but instead it makes the fans question a lot of the decision-making while watching the first two episodes. Its too noticeable that they change this show a lot and you are right I don't see it lasting long enough.I don't think a lot of fans remembering that Denise Vasi wasn't going to come back due to having a baby and it seems like an odd choice. But to kill off her character like that to me was just puzzling to me, all they could have done was find somebody else similar to what she brought to the character to play the same character instead of killing her off. what they doing with Keisha character, I don't think its enough for us to continue to watch the show.

reply

I'm not sure they should have either. I didn't know that DV quit. Seeing Nicole Ari Parker I think that they should have brought her on instead of DV. Since Raquel and Keisha were supposed to be best friends that's a little more believable. Anyway it does feel like a different show. Is Raquel's sister supposed to be taking her place?

Is Raquel's sister supposed to be taking her place?

I think so I guess but am not sure if she is going to be the main focus of this season.

the first 2 episodes were terrible. But they seem like they're leading up to something

Densie Vasi replied to a fan on twitter and said her leave on the show was permanent

Raquel's been declared legally dead even though they don't know where her body is.

I'm going to assume that was written and filmed before DV's decision to permanently leave the show

It seems like something they just came up with without putting much thought into it and how it will impact the show going forward because whatever they are planning are doing, they should change the name of the show and not call it Single Ladies.

reply

They have NEVER put “much thought” into this train wreck. The number of preposterous coincidences in the narrative insults the audience. The Oprah agenda-driven scripting insults the audience. “He’s charming and gorgeous, but he DARES QUESTION OBAMA?! Swipe left!!” As opposed to, “He’s gorgeous and human and we can disagree. Let’s find common ground.”

I watched it for the desirable women and the (admittedly) shallow fixation on fashion. The writing was uniformly immature.

I'm so glad I read this thread because I too didn't know DV wasn't coming back. My only reason for continuing to watch was because of Raquel and Terrance. Now that that's done, I really don't want to watch anymore.

reply

they are not given fans a reason to continue to watch this show after the first two episodes.

Not to mention April is getting ready to move to London. The main characters aren't present anymore. Don't forget the supporting characters they played a vital role as well like Malcolm. To me it doesn't have that classy appeal anymore. I miss the boutique scenes with Omar's fashion tips and smart mouth. It appears they are giving Latoya role more time as well. I was really wanting to see what would happen in the love life of the three main characters. They really could have just ended the show. You all are right this is just like the Game. It's A D**** Shame

reply

This is just an assumption by me but I'm guessing the reason why Raquel's body hasn't been found was in case Densie Vasi decided to return.

IDK something about that story line makes it seem like at the time those episodes were filmed, they had hope Denise Vasi would return to play Raquel

Season 3 left on a cliffhanger. They should have just filmed a TV movie series finale and be done

This new season is terrible
