Anyone feel bad for the poor rich kids?

I didn't. The kidnappers should've kneecapped all 3 of them to keep them from escaping. Then when the money went through, kill them all. No witnesses.

No need for that kind of reply. But, Idid not feel for the rich kids one bit/ But you were never supposed to either. You were supposed to hate them, so you could understand the true plot of the crime when it was revealed. Nice twist and well encased within the movie. Nice to see it pulled off. The movie seemed a bit slow for me, but otherwise it was very very good! Good cast, good script etc :D:D

reply

Not one of the main characters in this movie made you feel sympathetic. I could care less about what happened to any of these characters.

reply

I didn't really find myself to sympathize with any of the teens, except Nick. He was a nice guy and didn't deserve to be put through all of that. I could care less about the other two brats. (I fully expected the girl to die, but whatever)
I also felt kind of bad for the parents, especially Jeff's dad. He seemed to really love his son.

the rich kids absolutely positively deserved to die

I'm a Laura V. fan so chances are I'd somehow love her character anyway, still, even when her character was obviously a bitch, even though they were nasty I didn't felt for a second that any of them deserved to die. Nope.

So to answer your question: yes, I felt bad for them, felt bad for the main guy's girlfriend also... as to him? he lost me completely when he framed and killed the other guy after convincing him to do it all in the first place.

They weren't the most moral kids on the face of the earth. They're doing drugs in the club and such. Jeff right off the bat is kind of a jerk when he sees the girl in the middle of the road. I mean, for all he knows she could have car trouble but right away he was rude to her.

Despite all that, yes I felt sorry for them. One died, by the way in case anyone didn't see the movie. Not sure how Jeff deserved to die, but apparently some posters think he did.

Why is that? Their fathers were rich and they were born into it. How does that make them bad?

reply

I feel badly for *anyone* being kidnapped, held against their will, threatened, and killed, as what happened in the movie.

That's what made the movie a little more interesting wasn't it? it's almost an immoral nihilistic film, the victims are portrayed as aholes, the villain is portrayed as smart "entitled" guy with a family to feel for, he only showed small psychopathic characteristics in the end but we wanted him to win didn't we?

No I don't like rich kids, I worked cooking in kitchen for folks like that when I was younger, I went to college to get a high-status education with ppl like these, and I will still never be one of them, that doesn't mean I am gonna become an emo-loser or a killer, I just take all the money I can get and hate back

I didn't want him to win in the end...I honestly felt he was the worst one of all...and typically I love Kevin Zegers!

The film is odd...because it's actually not a bad film in terms of acting or plot...but it's a deeply unpleasant film, owing to the testament it makes about humanity in general.

The wealthy apparently look down on and scoff at those who are not wealthy (which I suspect most of us suspected all along)...and the poor get used yet again...and then discarded, as if they are garbage!

If you haven't seen the film on DVD, I suggest you check it out...and check out the alternate ending. In my opinion, it's better than the ending in the film...even if it does cut off quickly, and of course wasn't completely finished!

reply

What happened in the alternate ending???

reply

You can still do that in your own "Entitled" plot, so that they can lock your crazy ass away for good.

Absolutely. I'm actually a bit surprised to see all the people say they deserved to die..... They were definitely spoiled (Jeff being the most so), but that hardly makes them bad people. Really, I thought they were all likeable/sympathetic and didn't deserve what happened to them at all :/
I liked them all a lot! <3 I was really rooting for them all to live.

I agree with ScorpionTDC, lol they were harmless rich kids haha, definitely spoilt especially Jeff and Hailey, but that doesn't mean they deserved it. I think Paul knew that and it seems he was not going to kill them. He chose Dean and that girl to be the scapegoats and did not care about their deaths because they were sociopathic.

reply

No, I did not. At all.
But I don't feel bad for the "rebel teenagers" neither. At least the girl should have been smarter.
