Not that bad....

It had some good points. It just had a *LOT* of bad, too lol

The boss dude looked like and reminded me of the last lieutenant on NYPD Blue. Thought it *was* him until I looked. Could have been his younger brother. The one guy, Finn, reminded me of the Iraqi dude on Lost. Thought it *was* him until I looked it up. Could have been his brother. The reporter lady reminded me of.... Should I go on? Lol. Even the bald freak with the teeth in the pickup at the end was a reallllly cheesy Nick Cage. Say it with me....thought it *was* him until.... lol. Wtf is up with that??? Did they cast everyone in this one because they looked like some other real actors??? Hell, take off your glasses if you wear them, watch it blurry, and pretend those really are famous stars in it. Maybe it'll be a better movie that way.

As acting goes, it wasn't so bad, either. I could believe all the characters. The script was just really bad. The voice overs were cringe-worthy, too. It was pretty realistic, though. Just took itself too seriously, I guess. I actually HAVE a copy of this one on dvd. Didn't even remember buying it. Oh, well.

Oh, yeah, almost forgot. Hell, I'll give it a four. I watched it all the way through. Might even watch the dvd. It's not quite up to average but it's not too bad as a beer and pizza with friends movie. I'd watch a sequel if the original folks made one.

It was better then I expected, guy on back of truck and the bar owner were awful and apart from being a bit slow at times it was ok especially with the tiny budget they had. I have seen a LOT worse with much higher budgets.

Totally agreed. I think it really could have been a good one if they had some serious rewriting. The dialogue and a couple of the scenes were just really *out there*. The bar guy, that was one of the voice overs that really gritted my teeth. That voice badly lip-synched to the face almost made me turn it off.

It's often a problem with inexperienced writers that they fall into the "more is better" trap. "If that last movie had X gore, we'll add more and be better". It doesn't often work. It didn't in this one. Cutting those few scenes, the entire bar scene for a start, the religious guy's end scene, the truck guy....they could have made a better movie. Heck, not even cutting those scenes, just a toning down. When one or two scenes is all you remember from a movie, it's not a good movie. Clint Eastwood made a lot of great movies that literally had three pages of dialogue. A "Mister" character from Stakeland would have fitted that bar scene better.

My ratings go strictly by the numbers, though. A five is an average movie. Average movies aren't bad movies per se. MOST movies are purely average and perfectly watchable. That four was just one step below average. Those few key scenes just detracted from the whole a bit too much to let it go.

I'd gladly watch a sequel or another project from the same folks, though. I think they've got a few really good movies in their future if they keep at it.
