what was the point of the movie?

Could understand the underline of the movie. Was he a christian because he didn't want to be gay? The movie with everywhere and had no direction.

reply

I think he became Christian because he wanted a place to belong. Not everything's a fable. It's just a story. The movie lacks "direction" because it's about a lonely guy looking for a place to belong.

After reading all the other post on here. I got the fact that he was gay and everything. But was he lying about being an Christian?

he became Christian because he found God. It a thing that happens when someone's preconceived notions and ideas of himself and the world all falls away and there's just the Universe staring back at them.

The point of the movie was to show an isolated lonley man trying to find a place to belong.

The main character had a difficult time making friends and relating to others. He tried to be Christian and join a church, but by the end he relaized it was not for him and he had to accept himself as he was a keep moving on.

reply

I agree with you.
at the end of the movie, he cried then slow but sure that cry turned into a very little tiny smile as it's alright. it was not for him and he had to accept himself as he keeps moving on.

Isn't it sad to see how many people who watched this movie simply don't get it?

reply

You obviously don't speak English very well, so don't blame the movie for being hard to understand. You are the idiot here.

I agree with the others who have said the point of this movie is to show someone searching for meaning, even after years of university.

While I think this is why David converts to Christianity, I don't think the movie handled his arc very well at all. There were too many loose ends about David as a character for us (or at least me) to connect with him, and his conversion seemed really abrupt and out of nowhere. I can see how it would be easy to miss the point of this movie because it is not very good at making it, in my opinion.
