Scary? Really?

Trying really hard to find just one good scary and intense scene in [REC] 3

[REC] 1 was full of them and the last few minutes with night vision in the camera were insane.
[REC] 2 Had some gripping moments as well, the scene with the little girl, for example, when they killed her was intense.

There are no intense and powerful scenes in this one and whatever suspense/horror is build up is taken down by misplaced humor (grandpa with hearing aid device, for example), even the one where the uncle jumps of the second floor and lands on a table and then bites the woman was lacking in horror/suspense. The ending is a good scene, I'll admit, but it is like too little, too late and is not scary.

It was a different style then the first two, but I had heard it was going to be a Horror/comedy so I guess I was expecting it. Plus the humour was subtle, not forced so thats a plus.

If I hadn't have known it was going to be silly, I may have been a bit angry because I am getting sick of blatant horror/comedies..

Yes... When John Esponja is killed in the new 3rd person point of view and we can see it in a long shot pan (I can remember if it is hand held) barely knowing what happened and with no impact for one of the best characters of the movie.

The only scary part in all of the movies is the endings. Grandpa's hearing device might have been "funny" the 1st time you see him (if you like making fun of handicapped people), but I thought it was pretty creative how they used him at the end.

Totally agree, i was absolutely appalled and had many "WTF" moments while watching this horrific attempt of a sequel to this Rec franchise.. obviously you know who was the brains out of the directing duo after watching this third one!! And indeed, if you did like this one, you were not a fan of the first two because this third film goes against everything that made the first two so good......

Agreed... or they are as simple minded as the zombies in this movie and find anything and everything 'scary', much like children do. One of the worse films made this year. I'm yet to read one review that can sensibly justify why this is even mildly good in relation to the previous movies.

Yes if this was a comedy horror about zombies at a wedding, or a parody film like Scary Movie, then maybe but not as part of the REC franchise that's just absurd.

Can't be a coincidence that the main writer/ director from the first two films jumped ship on this one right?

Trying to turn what was a very scary, suspenseful and highly visceral experience into some strange variation of Evil Dead 3 or Shawn of the Dead is just a bad idea, one which will hopefully be rectified in the 4th movie.

Well I hope so!

I actually preferred rec 2 to rec 1, rec 3 was pretty bad. It's a shame cause it started off good. The moment the actual titles showed and how it wasn't relying on 1st person camera footage anymore made me sit up, sadly what followed was a let down.
They spent so much time focusing on a real life pre wedding footage etc, i thought they were going to contrast it with a nonfunny but instead serious horror/suspense. Instead they went down the ridiculous route (which is fine) but basically makes the first part of the film (prezombies) pointless.

I hope they listen to the fans and deliver a good 4th. Personally i enjoy the possessed zombie storyline rather than just virus.

I might go back watch the first tomorrow, its been awhile, I might shine to it better now.

I also hope that part 4 would be like part 1 or 2! I really really hope that! I liked part 3, cause it was entertaining and different for what it was, but its good style for just one movie, don t try it again. Part 1 and 2 are obviously superior. Hopefully part 4 would be as better and with Manuela Velasco too

i have a feeling that 3 was just a side story to introduce us to new characters that will play big roles in part 4. They're saying Clara will be in part 4 and what about the priest that stayed alive in the control room. He seemed to know something.

Yes, i read somewhere that the 3rd will not include Ángela Vidal the main character of first 2 movies, but she'll come back in the forth!

it doesn't matter to me who's in that movie. its not going to be found footage style. that's why i loved rec 1 and 2 and why i hated rec 3.

This movie is a bit of a disaster if I'm being completely honest. This movie is like they are stretching out an idea that wasn't meant to last three movies, let alone four movies. That's the impression I get from REC 3.

In fact they wanted to change from the two first parts and they were saying it continuosly during the promotion. Rec 3 was for plaza and he ended with a comedy version of rec, but it is still under rec universe so in my opinion is not a disaster but a different approach, with good parts and some moments that were too long. I am more of 1&2 but rec 3 has its points and for me deserves a little more than a 5. Rec4 i am sure will be recovering the horror for 1&2 although i expect also to has something original too. Plaza & balaguero seems to me directors that do not want to be doing just the same approach.
