the scarf

I love the use of Sofia's scarf throughout this movie. It almost becomes another character. Sometimes she wears it looped around her neck, sometimes it's hanging loosely around her neck, she wore it around her shoulders once like a shawl, they used it like a curtain to kiss behind during that photography scene on the beach, she wore it around her hair when they were on the boat, she wore it wrapped around her head like a headband when they jumped off the cliff together into the water, she held it above her head once and let it float on the breeze, I think at one point she's just carrying it around in her fist... This all occurred to me while I was reflecting back at the movie, but now I want to watch it again and see if the placement of the scarf has any significance to the scenes it appears in.
