How far into the story do you think TDT will go?

Just through the gunslinger or into the second book? Im new to reading The Dark Tower series and aim to finish Gunslinger before seeing the movie. Looking forward to the movie, true to the book or not.

This appears to be a completely different story with a few similar elements and characters with the same names as those in the book. This is The Dark Tower in name only, so don't expect to see the books on screen.

I suspect (just guessing) that since "The Gunslinger" is a fairly short, lean novel that they'll pull in some of Roland's back story from later books like "Wizard and Glass" to fill out some things.

I really enjoyed the series, but I'm unsure how the whole thing would translate to a big screen series. The tone shifts a lot from book to book.

Sorry, I don't know how to make links here, but copying and pasting takes three seconds.

The Dark Tower movie, that I just watched, has little or nothing to do with the series of books.

The only thing in common are that there is a Roland, a Jake and a Man In Black in both the movie and the books.

Other than that, one has nothing at all to do with the other.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Watched the movie this evening and well, TBH I'm not sure what I watched. It felt like the deleted scene reel of a much longer, better film. Not necessarily bad, but nothing great.

I didn't think it was very good. They basically wanted to make a sequel to the book series while also trying to adapt the book series and somehow they tried to do it within 90 minutes and it just did not work. But the good news is that I heard a TV series is in the works so hopefully that will be good.

I'm trying to go for an engaging, funny youtube channel so, if you have the time, take a look. Hope you enjoy what you see. Thanks in advance. A review of the movie here-https://youtu.be/rEXvFXvTxto
