Cliche, but GREAT!

Come on people. You know exactly what you are going to get when you see all the previews. There are no surprises here. And you know what...

WHO CARES - its a great, entertaining, feel good movie. If you are in the mood for that - go. If you are not - don't. Simple.

It took a while for me to see this. Once I was in the mood for this kind of flick, I went and was very surprised. I was touched by this film. More to the point, i LET myself be touched by it.

IMDB used to be great before it became of a cyber playground for 'he said - she said" basement dwellers.

Oh well...

completely agree. Underrated movie in my opnion. Like Real Steel,it wascompletely formulaic and cliché. But what movies aren't? It still delivered, the fights were well done and it has very likeable leads.

Got to agree ,wasn't expecting much but i ended up really liking it.Kevin James looked pretty believable which surprised me and the fight sequences were better than a lot of other fight genre films and the fonz was great too!!!

Show us on the doll where this movie touched you. It is ok, this is a safe place.

Seriously though, you are totally right. This movie's premise was pure USA grade A cliche. But it was elevated way beyond that by the script and the actors.

And this is coming from someone who doesn't even like MMA or any other professional sport. I would have passed on it were it not for salma hayek in the cast, she's not known for doing cliched movies and so I took a chance on it.

i only watched it for the mma part and because i was kinda bored.

i would not have expected this kind of character being played by james. his usual sillyness is passed on to the music teacher (who really annoyed the crap out of me). it still is very cliche and i found it hard to believe that voss could advance to fight in an ufc event, even as a filler.

i loved bas' character who made up for the music teacher and the mandatory "love story".

the only thing that bugged me was that voss ended up winning the last fiht. although that was done more plausible than i expected. had they gone with him losing with his head held high, people may have accused them of ripping off rocky balboa.

I was incredibly surprised by how uplifting this movie was, when he walks into the main arena and his students are playing for him, well, that was priceless! I give this movie a 9!

Me too. Awesome!

I completely agree. I also didn't expect much as the last movies from Happy Madison has been without any depth or enjoyment. But this movie was a real FEEL GOOD movie. I truly enjoyed it from start to end. It was just really great entertainment, nothing more nothing less. And Bas Rutten is actually quite funny.

This movie is underrated.

This movie and the Last Stand with Arnold are the two latest movies I had no real expectations to, and got totally impressed by the level of entertainment and enjoyment. It delivers at what it aims to be, and that's what counts.

Thumbs up!
