What does it mean the ending scene in swimming pool?

Does it mean anything?(probably yes...but I don't get it) I'm little confuse...step brother die and there is a boy who is responsible for his dead and he is swimming. Maybe this is a reference to a scene from the beginning of the movie where all swim in one direction and in the end of the movie only guy who was opposed to the others comes back with all the "glory" (he avenged the girl where no one else bothered by the fact she was raped)

Correct, that's possible.. the ending was indeed confusing but as in the movie they were amalgamating the past in future scenes so it is very much possible.. still really good attempt.

Actually that theory works better than how I saw it. I thought that was there to show that the people chose to kill his brother rather than him (you know, with that silly contraption he had built to give them the option using SMS). Of course, that would be suggesting there were absolutely no consequences to his actions so...hopefully your theory is more accurate than mine.

He is swimming in a pool in prison.

I think he got away with it. Because all the witnesses would deny everything cause they hated the guy's step-brother. Maybe slightly unrealistic.

exactly !!! u good pj

Is the ending really that ambigious?

Darren won, because the partygoers decided after seeing the video of Zack talking bad about everyone and his callous attitude to Xandrie's rape wasn't worth saving. So they voted for him to die. The final scene in the pool signifies he lived and got justice for Xandrie.

As for the law part (who would be responsible) while technically Darren created the device and sent the means to enact it, he could point at the partygoers voting that actually caused the gun to fire. And since you really can't charge 100+ people with one murder (who cast the fatal vote for example?) the case would be a legal quagmire and probably would result in no charges. Especially with the public outcry that would befall Zack and his friends after the release of video of their callous, uncaring confession of date rape and their means to cover it up.

Just my two cents.

Really? What country is this that they have swimming pools in prison? It's like a vacation spot huh.

reply

You should really go back and watch the ending because it was definitely prison.. There's literally 3 guards watching him swim.

reply

it definitely wasn't a flashback scene because Darren's nose was scabbed from being beaten up.

It's showing him swimming in prison (swimming is a very popular sport in Austrailia and there are pools in many Aussie correctional facilities). You can also see a guard faintly in the background (wow, an adult in the movie!). I believe this scene is only showing the viewer that Zak was killed in the previous scene- no hidden artsy meaning.
