I saw Mother (three times, I love the movie and the particular director so much) and at first, say up until 20 minutes in, maybe 30, I saw some similarities. Especially in the first few scenes after the credits that the mother and son are both in. Mother is told in a much more straightforward, linear, even style, though- here we see everyone's POV (not a slam on Scalene, just comparing them). I think Bong-Joon Ho and Zack Parker each have pretty different storytelling styles from their movies. But after half an hour or so in, I forgot about Mother and focused more on this multi-layered story. I would say it is worth a watch, though, especially if you like the theme of a mother standing by her brain-damaged son, willing to do anything she can to help him, also unconditional love even if some other facts look bad (when it comes to being accused of a crime).
Everything that you see, I owe to spaghetti.
