difference between the US and the UK

When Richard Gere tells the woman at the kids' baseball game that none of them are his, he lives nearby and just likes to watch a game every now and then, she says 'That's nice.'

Over here if he said that, his house would be covered with 'Paedo Scum' graffiti before he even got back!

You stay classy, San Diego.... I'm Ron Burgundy?

You know what, i said pretty much the same thing!

It is bad when this is one of the few things I remember about the movie. So true though, most people would be disgusted and confused why a middle-aged man was watching little boys play baseball.

reply

I thought it seemed a little creepy, too.

That struck me, too. I live in the US and I would've immediately been suspicious of him.

American here, and I freaked out, thinking all of sudden that this was going to be a catch-the-pedophile instead of a spy thriller!!

reply

Sadly, it made me cringe a little watching that bit to be honest. A reflection of the way society has become with all these horrific paedophile stories that keep coming out.

Our true origins are unknown, we simply are.

He likes to watch a game every now and then. Perhaps it reminds him of his child he lost. It's a thing in the UK though. An older guy says something to a young lady, and she slags back *beep* off pedo! Stay Classy England. rofl
