Shape of the Island (Possible spoiler)

You've probably noticed the woman shape of the island at the end.
Kind of reminded me of the island scene in Life of Pi.

A coincidence?

I know it's a very late reply.

Obvious spoilers as it's the last image of the movie:

Many people here didn't like the "happy" ending and wished that Hae-won also should have died in the end because of her cruel coldness. But I think the shape of the island implies that – while she left the island behind – it will be always a part of Hae-won. So in my opinion it's a very dark ending quite fitting such a dark story.

The island in Life of Pi is (as everything we see in the story that is told until the not-so-fantastic version is told) a symbol for what happened in reality. It stands for cannibalism: The only way how the Pi survived was by eating the cook (as the tiger eats the hyena in his story). In his story he was only saved by eating the flesh of the island (the roots). Thats why he found a human tooth on the island etc.
